How did pork chop hill get its name?

Pork Chop Hill got its name during the Korean War because of its shape.

The hill, located near the city of Chorwon, was strategically important, but it was also small and oddly shaped, resembling a pork chop on a map. American soldiers, who fought fiercely to capture and hold the hill, started calling it "Pork Chop Hill" due to its distinctive appearance.

The name stuck and became synonymous with the brutal and bloody battles that were fought over the hill, particularly in the spring of 1953.
