How to Cook a Pork Chop on a Dome Electric Grill
Grilling is a favorite pastime a millions of men (and even some women, too). Traditionally, grilling is an event that occurs behind the house on a patio. Weather, however, plays a major factor in the ability to grill outside. For those people who want to have grilled meats and vegetables year round without regard to the weather, dome electric grills have made notion a reality. You can use a dome electric outdoors, but generally, people use it inside. These grills do not require gas or charcoal, which means the smoke created from the grill is minimal, making it ideal for indoor use. These grills channel fat away from foods, making them healthier than pan-frying foods. One of the best meats you can cook in a dome electric grill are pork chops.
Things You'll Need
- Small bowl
- Various spices and seasonings, as desired
- Whisk
- Bone-in pork chops, 1-inch thick
- Spray oil
- Rubber-tipped tongs
- Instant-read thermometer
Instructions
-
Preheat the dome electric grill on medium high.
-
In a small bowl, add any spices or seasonings that you would like to use as a dry rub for your pork chops. Possible choices include brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dry mustard, thyme, salt, or black pepper. Use a whisk to mix well.
-
Rub the spice mixture on both sides of each pork chop. Lightly coat the surface of the dome electric grill with spray oil.
-
Place the pork chops on the grill and cook for at least five minutes. Put the cover (dome) back on to help retain heat. After five minutes, use rubber tipped tongs and turn pork chops to the other side. After another five minutes, turn the pork chops again, rotating each chop 90 degrees to create a crosshatch effect on the surface. After five minutes, flip the pork chops a final time.
-
Without touching the bone, check the pork chops with an instant-read thermometer. The pork chops are done cooking once an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit has been reached.
-
Remove the pork chops with the tongs and turn off the grill. Allow the pork chops to rest for at least five minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute evenly and to allow for carryover cooking.
