How long can raw beef set at room temp?

Raw beef should never be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Here's why:

* Bacteria Growth: Bacteria grow rapidly in the "danger zone," which is between 40°F and 140°F (4°C and 60°C). Room temperature falls within this range, making it a breeding ground for harmful bacteria.

* Food Poisoning Risk: Eating undercooked or contaminated beef can lead to serious food poisoning.

To ensure food safety:

* Refrigerate beef immediately: Store raw beef in the refrigerator at 40°F (4°C) or below.

* Don't leave it out: If you're cooking beef, keep it refrigerated until you're ready to prepare it.

* Thaw safely: Thaw frozen beef in the refrigerator, not at room temperature.

* Cook thoroughly: Beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for whole cuts and 160°F (71°C) for ground beef.

If you're unsure about the safety of your beef, it's best to err on the side of caution and throw it away.
