How long can raw chicken stand at room temp?
Raw chicken should never stand at room temperature for more than two hours.
Here's why:
* Bacteria growth: Bacteria can multiply rapidly at room temperature, making chicken unsafe to eat.
* Food poisoning risk: Consuming raw chicken left at room temperature for too long can lead to food poisoning, causing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
To be extra safe:
* One hour is the ideal maximum time for raw chicken to be at room temperature, especially in warmer environments.
* Refrigerate raw chicken immediately after purchase or after it has been thawed.
Always remember: When in doubt, throw it out! It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to food safety.
