Ingredients:
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage and ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked ziti pasta and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Pour the pasta mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
