How do you cook turkey meatballs?
How to Cook Turkey Meatballs:
Ingredients:
* 1 lb ground turkey
* 1/2 cup bread crumbs
* 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
* 1/4 cup chopped onion
* 1 egg
* 1 clove garlic, minced
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
* Optional: 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
1. Prepare the meatball mixture:
* In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
* Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are combined and the mixture is uniform.
* Optional: Add chopped fresh parsley for extra flavor.
2. Shape the meatballs:
* Using your hands, form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
* Tip: Lightly dampen your hands with water to prevent the mixture from sticking.
3. Cooking methods:
* Pan-frying:
* Heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil or cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
* Carefully add the meatballs to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd.
* Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
* Baking:
* Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
* Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
* Arrange the meatballs in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
* Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
* Slow cooker:
* Place the meatballs in the slow cooker.
* Add 1 cup of your favorite sauce (e.g., marinara, barbecue sauce).
* Cook on low heat for 4-6 hours, or on high heat for 2-3 hours.
4. Serving suggestions:
* Serve turkey meatballs as a main course with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.
* Use them in soups, stews, or chili.
* Add them to salads for a protein boost.
Tips:
* For a moister meatball, add a tablespoon or two of milk or water to the mixture.
* If you're short on time, you can use pre-made bread crumbs or panko bread crumbs.
* Don't overcook the meatballs, or they will become dry.
* Let the meatballs rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
Enjoy!
