When do turkeys start to lay eggs?

Turkeys begin laying eggs as early as 6 to 7 months of age, about 24 weeks. However, some turkey breeds do not become fully mature and ready to lay for nearly a year or more. Turkey fertility and production usually begin in late February or early March and continues into July; some hens go broody (sit on a group of eggs to hatch them into poults) as early as the first half of April after they have laid 15 to 25 eggs.
