Where does cork comes from?

Oak trees.

More specifically, cork is the outer bark of the cork oak tree (Quercus suber), which is native to the Mediterranean region. These are slow-growing trees and may live for up to 250 years.

Cork is harvested by stripping off the outer bark of the tree, a process that does not harm the tree and allows it to continue growing. The bark is then processed into various products such as wine corks, insulation, flooring, and furniture.
