* Bell pepper: 1 medium, chopped (optional)
* Spicy elements:
* Chili flakes: 1/2 - 1 teaspoon (adjust to your spice preference)
* Jalapeño pepper: 1/2, finely diced (optional)
* Sriracha: 1-2 tablespoons (optional)
* Other seasonings:
* Italian seasoning: 1 teaspoon
* Salt and pepper: to taste
* Tomato: 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
* Cream: 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
* Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup, grated, for serving
* Fresh parsley: 1 tablespoon, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
2. Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the vegetables: Add garlic, onion, and bell pepper (if using) to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
4. Add spice: Add chili flakes, jalapeño (if using), and Sriracha (if using). Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
5. Add the rest: Add the diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Add the chicken: Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet. Stir to combine.
7. Add the cream (optional): If desired, stir in the heavy cream.
8. Combine with pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss to combine.
9. Serve: Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley (if using).
Tips:
* Spice level: Adjust the amount of chili flakes, jalapeño, and Sriracha to your liking. Start with a small amount and add more if needed.
* Veggies: Feel free to add other vegetables to the pasta, such as mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini.
* Flavor: For a richer sauce, use a combination of heavy cream and chicken broth.
* Leftovers: This pasta dish is great for leftovers and can be reheated in the microwave or on the stovetop.
