What is casareccia pasta?

Casareccia is a thick short-cut dried Italian pasta variety originating from the Italian regions of Lazio and Umbria. With a ridged exterior that's hollow in the center, casareccia is similar to a tube with the ridges allowing for sauces to "catch" better.
