How to Check the Doneness of Meatloaf
Meatloaf is a baked dish that contains ground beef and some sort of filler such as bread crumbs or oatmeal. It is often served with ketchup. Since many meatloaf recipes contain nitrates like onions or celery, it's possible for a meatloaf to appear slightly pink in the center even if it is cooked all the way. If you'd like to check the doneness of your meatloaf, you can do so safely with the help of a meat thermometer.
Things You'll Need
- Meat thermometer
Instructions
-
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and allow it to rest for two minutes.
-
Stick a meat thermometer into the meatloaf so that the tip is pushed to the center of the loaf.
-
Check the temperature. If the meatloaf is 160 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, it is finished cooking and is safe to eat.
