How do you prepare vegan vegetable patties?
Here's a basic recipe to prepare vegan vegetable patties:
Ingredients:
For the Patties:
- 1 cup of various chopped vegetables (e.g., carrots, zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms)
- 1 cup of cooked lentils or beans (any type)
- 1/2 cup of panko breadcrumbs or rolled oats
- 1/4 cup of chopped onions or shallots
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh herbs (e.g., parsley, cilantro, thyme)
- 2 tablespoons of chickpea flour or all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
For Serving (optional):
- Burger buns or your favorite bread
- Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and other desired burger toppings
- Vegan cheese (optional)
- Vegan mayonnaise or other sauces (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Vegetables and Lentils:
- Chop the vegetables into small pieces and cook them if necessary.
- Rinse and cook the lentils or beans until tender, following package instructions.
2. Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked vegetables, cooked lentils/beans, panko breadcrumbs or rolled oats, onions/shallots, herbs, chickpea flour or all-purpose flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Mix everything well until the ingredients are well combined.
3. Form the Patties:
- Take a portion of the mixture and form it into a patty shape using your hands. Flatten the patty to the desired thickness.
- Repeat this process for all the mixture, making as many patties as you can.
4. Pan-Frying the Patties:
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, gently place the patties in the pan. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Repeat this process for all the patties.
5. Serve and Enjoy:
- Once all the patties are cooked, you can serve them immediately.
- Place the patties in burger buns and add your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and vegan cheese.
- Drizzle with vegan mayonnaise or other sauces if desired.
- Enjoy your delicious homemade vegan vegetable patties!
Note:
- Feel free to adjust the ratio of vegetables and cooked lentils/beans according to your preference. You can also experiment with different vegetable combinations and herbs to create different flavors.
