How do you moisten already made fudge?
Here are a few ways to moisten already made fudge that's become dry:
1. The Microwave Method:
* Cut the fudge into small pieces. This allows the heat to distribute more evenly.
* Place the pieces on a microwave-safe plate.
* Microwave in 10-second intervals, stirring after each interval. Watch carefully, as fudge can burn easily!
* Continue heating in short bursts until the fudge is soft and pliable.
2. The Steam Method:
* Place the fudge in a sealed container. This could be a Tupperware container, a zip-top bag, or even a bowl covered with plastic wrap.
* Place the container in a steamer basket over a pot of simmering water. The steam will gently rehydrate the fudge.
* Steam for 5-10 minutes, or until the fudge is soft.
* Let the fudge cool slightly before opening the container.
3. The Milk Method:
* If the fudge is very dry, you can add a splash of milk.
* Place the fudge in a bowl and drizzle a few drops of milk over it.
* Mix the milk into the fudge using a spatula.
* Use a double boiler or a bain-marie to gently warm the mixture. This will help the milk melt into the fudge.
* Be sure not to heat the fudge too much. The milk should just melt into the fudge, not boil.
Important Considerations:
* Don't overdo it. It's better to add moisture gradually than to make the fudge too soft or runny.
* Allow the fudge to cool completely before cutting or storing. This will help it to set and hold its shape.
* If you have any leftover milk, you can add it to the next batch of fudge. This will help prevent it from drying out.
