Can Pomegranate juice cause uric acid?
While pomegranate juice typically has many health benefits due to its rich antioxidant content, there is currently no credible evidence suggesting that consuming pomegranate juice directly leads to an increase in uric acid levels in the body. This misconception may be influenced by confusion with another similar fruit – the plum. Consuming an excess of certain plum varieties known as "prunes" has indeed been associated with increased uric acid levels due to their fructose content.
