Where can one find a recipe for carmel apples?
Here's an easy-to-follow recipe for delicious caramel apples:
Ingredients:
6 to 8 medium-sized apples, tart varieties work best
12 ounces (340 grams) of caramels, unwrapped
1/4 cup (60 ml) of heavy cream or coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
Your choice of toppings: chopped nuts, chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc.
Instructions:
1. Rinse the apples thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue. With a paper towel, pat them dry.
2. Line a baking sheet or tray with wax or parchment paper to make cleanup easier.
3. Melt the caramels: you can do this by placing them in a microwave-safe bowl and microwaving them at medium heat for 30-60 seconds, in increments. Alternatively, you can use the double boiler method by heating a saucepan with an inch of water and placing a glass bowl over it, letting the caramels melt gently in the steam.
4. Once the caramels are melted and smooth, stir in the heavy cream or coconut milk and vanilla extract. This helps create a smooth, velvety caramel sauce.
5. Hold each apple by the stem, then dip the apples into the melted caramel mixture, ensuring they're covered about 2/3 of the way up. Gently shake the apple to let the excess caramel drip off.
6. Place the dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet or tray.
7. Add any desired toppings while the caramel is still soft and tacky. Chopped nuts, chocolate chips, sprinkles, or even sea salt are great options.
8. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight to let the caramel set.
9. Store the caramel apples in the refrigerator and consume them within a few days.
Enjoy! These homemade caramel apples are an indulgent treat that's sure to satisfy your sweet cravings. Remember, the key is in achieving the right caramel consistency, not too runny and not too thick.
