What are the uses of pentene?
Pentene is a five-carbon alkene with the chemical formula C5H10. It is a colorless liquid with a gasoline-like odor. It is produced industrially by the cracking of petroleum or by the dehydrogenation of pentane. Pentene is used as a solvent for fats, oils, and resins, and as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as isoprene and cyclopentadiene. It is also used in the manufacture of plastics and synthetic rubber.
