How to Refrigerate Waffle Batter (5 Steps)
Waffles share some similarities with pancakes; however, waffles generally have a crispier outside surface and soft and flavorful inside. Recipes for waffles abound, with some containing yeast and others containing baking powder. Still other waffle recipes call for stiff egg whites to leaven the waffles. When the breakfast menu calls for waffles, streamline the cooking process by making the waffle batter ahead of time. You can then refrigerate the waffle batter until you need to make the waffles.
Things You'll Need
- Waffle batter
- Covered plastic container (with lid)
Instructions
-
Prepare the waffle batter according to your recipe. Follow the recipe directions through the steps to mix the waffle batter completely, making it smooth.
-
Pour the prepared waffle batter into the covered plastic container and close the lid securely.
-
Place the container into the refrigerator. Store the waffle batter in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before making the waffles.
-
Remove the waffle batter from the refrigerator 30 minutes before you wish to cook the waffles. Remove the lid from the container and allow the batter to sit on the counter undisturbed.
-
Stir the batter gently immediately before you cook the waffles. Cook the waffles according to your waffle maker instructions.
