How to Warm Bread Without it Getting Hard (4 Steps)

Bread is best served warm, especially if the bread is served with a meal. Reheating your bread sounds like a simple task; however, if done improperly, the bread may harden, dry out or even turn into a chewy mess. Following a few simple steps will yield bread that is warmed throughout, maintains moisture and tastes like it was just removed from the oven.

Things You'll Need

  • Bread
  • Knife
  • Foil
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Microwave
  • Paper towel

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Wrap soft breads tightly in aluminum foil. If you are reheating crusty breads, leave it unwrapped.

  2. Place bread on a baking sheet and put the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Warm the bread in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes for soft bread, and 5 to 10 minutes for crusty bread, depending on the size of the loaf.

  3. Remove the bread from the oven and remove foil. Slice the bread and serve immediately.

  4. To microwave the bread, place the loaf on a paper towel in the microwave. Warm the bread for no more than 15 seconds.
