The dose of antibiotic syrup for children?

Common dosages for children

- Children aged 6 months and older: Give 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) every 4 hours. Do not give more than 5 doses per day.

- Children aged 2 years to under 6 years: Give 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) every 6 hours. Do not give more than 4 doses per day.

- Children aged 6 to 12 years: Give 2 teaspoonfuls (10 mL) every 4 hours. Do not give more than 5 doses per day.

Notes

- The above doses are just a guide. Your doctor may prescribe a different dose depending on your child's specific condition.

- Never give your child more antibiotic syrup than prescribed by your doctor.

- If your child misses a dose, give the next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue the regular dosing schedule.

- Do not give your child any other medicines that contain amoxicillin or clavulanate potassium without first talking to your doctor.

- If your child has an allergic reaction to amoxicillin or clavulanate potassium, stop giving the medicine and call your doctor immediately.

For all ages, be sure to give the correct dose of antibiotic at the correct time each day.
