Can woolly bear caterpillers eat lettuce?

Woolly bear caterpillars, the larval stage of tiger moths, are known to feed on a variety of plants. While their primary diet consists of leaves, they are not generally known to eat lettuce. Most woolly bear caterpillars prefer plants like dandelions, clovers, grasses, and other broad-leaved weeds. They can also feed on tree leaves like oak, willow, and birch. Given the availability of these preferred food sources, woolly bear caterpillars would not typically choose to eat lettuce, which is not a part of their usual diet.
