Valentina Tereshkova was a Soviet cosmonaut who was the first woman to travel into space. She was launched into space on June 16, 1963, in the Vostok 6 spacecraft. Tereshkova spent three days in space, completing 48 orbits of the Earth.
During her time in space, Tereshkova ate a variety of foods that were specially designed for space travel. These foods were freeze-dried and packaged in small tubes or pouches. Tereshkova could rehydrate the foods by adding water.
