All foods and beverages are not mixtures. Some are pure substances. For example, water is a pure substance. It contains only one type of molecule, H2O. However, most foods and beverages are mixtures. They contain two or more different types of molecules. For example, milk is a mixture of water, fat, protein, and carbohydrates.
