Why are China dishes called China?

China dishes are not called "China" in English. The term "China" is used to refer to the country in East Asia, or to porcelain produced in that country. In English, china dishes are typically referred to as "dishes", "plates", or "bowls". The term "china" may be used informally to refer to dishes made of porcelain, but it is not the standard name for these items.
