How to Make Chinese Fried Chicken Wings (6 Steps)
Chinese fried chicken wings are dipped in a spicy batter and fried quickly in peanut oil, resulting in succulent chicken wings that are brown and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Serve them as a delicious appetizer or make them a main course with a salad and your favorite bread.
Things You'll Need
- 3 lb. chicken wings
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp. corn starch
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. sugar
- Peanut oil for frying
Instructions
-
Rinse the chicken wings under cool running water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
-
Break the eggs into a small bowl and whisk them together lightly.
-
Mix the beaten eggs and milk together and blend in the flour, corn starch, baking powder, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, freshly ground black pepper and sugar.
-
Add the chicken wings to the batter and stir them so that the wings are completely covered. Set them aside for about 15 minutes for the flavors to blend.
-
Heat the peanut oil in a large skillet and fry the wings, frying them in batches if necessary. Cook them on medium heat until they're nearly done and then turn the heat on high to make the wings brown and crispy.
-
Remove the Chinese fried chicken wings from the oil and let them drain on a thick layer of paper towels.
