What do hyenna eat?

Omnivores

Hyenas are omnivores, which means they eat a variety of both plant and animal matter.

Animal matter:

Hyenas are carnivores at heart and their diet consists mostly of meat. They are opportunistic hunters and will eat whatever they can find, including ungulates (such as antelope, zebra, and wildebeest), rodents, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. They are also known to scavenge on carcasses and will often follow lions and other predators in order to scavenge on their leftovers.

Plant matter:

Although they are primarily meat eaters, hyenas will also eat some plant matter, such as berries, fruits, and leaves. This helps to supplement their diet and provides them with essential vitamins and minerals.

Coprophagy:

Hyenas are not afraid of eating feces and will often eat their own feces as well as the feces of other animals. This helps them to get rid of parasites and may also provide them with some nutrients.

Bones and other materials:

Hyenas have very strong jaws and teeth and are able to crush bones and other hard materials. This allows them to eat the marrow from bones, which is a rich source of nutrients. They will also sometimes eat horns, hooves, and other indigestible materials.
