How can you tell if thawed turkey is bad?

There are a few ways to tell whether a thawed turkey has spoiled.

Look at the color. Fresh turkey should be pink or light pink. If the turkey is starting to turn gray or brown, it is beginning to spoil.

Smell the turkey. Fresh turkey should have a mild, slightly sweet odor. If the turkey smells sour, strong, or off, it has likely spoiled.

Feel the texture of the turkey. Fresh turkey should be firm to the touch. If the turkey is soft or mushy, it is beginning to spoil.

Do the pinch test. Pinch the skin of the turkey. If it doesn't bounce back, the turkey is old and not fresh.

If the turkey has any of these signs of spoilage, it should not be cooked or eaten.
