How to Choose Low-Calorie Sushi (7 Steps)
Sushi is a healthy food, but you can be sure to pick some of the lowest calorie sushi if you know what to order. Here are some tips on choosing sushi that tastes delicious yet is kind to the waistline.

Ask the waiter for sushi rolls that are usually made with rice to be made without it, or with half of the amount. It may be easier for them to be made as hand-rolls rather than cut-up rolls, in a bid to avoid having them fall apart when eaten.

Skip the fried tofu dishes or anything containing tempura. Tempura is fried and anything fried is bad for a diet. Make sure any sushi rolls you order do not contain tempura as well, so ask your waiter about which ones are appropriate. The restaurants may not always specify such details on the menu.

Opt for plain pieces of sashimi. Raw fish does not contain as many calories and is very filling and delicious.

Avoid ordering any rolls made with mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is a no-no on most diet. Some examples of sushi rolls made with mayonnaise include the Spider roll, the Dragon roll, the Soft-shell crab roll, the Cream Cheese crab roll and more.

Skip the sake. It's refreshing and delicious, but it's alcohol and alcohol is empty calories.
