How to Make Tuna Sashimi at Home (6 Steps)

Tuna sashimi may sound like a complicated recipe that you would never attempt to make yourself. But it isn't as hard as it sounds — as long as you have the specialty ingredients needed and very high-quality tuna, you can make this tasty Japanese treat at home for less than you would spend at a sushi restaurant.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 lb. high-quality tuna
  • 1/2 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup radishes
  • Scallions
  • 1/2 cup ponzu sauce
  • 1 12 tbsp. hot chili oil

Instructions

  1. Using a very sharp knife, cut the tuna in thin chunks. Place the tune slices on a serving platter or plate.

  2. Season the tuna slices with sesame seeds and salt according to personal taste.

  3. Thinly slice the radishes and scallions. Place them in a bowl and toss.

  4. Bring the chili oil and ponzu sauce to a boil in a saucepan.

  5. Pour the sauce over each serving of tuna.

  6. Sprinkle the scallions and radishes over the tuna.
