How do you make bisquick?
Here is a recipe to make Bisquick mix at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
3. Use a pastry blender (or two knives) to cut the shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Alternatively, you can use a food processor to pulse the ingredients together until they are combined.
4. Gradually add the milk and mix until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it gently until it comes together and forms a ball.
6. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and shape each into a disk about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
7. Place the disks on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown around the edges and cooked through.
8. Let the disks cool completely on a wire rack before breaking them into pieces and storing in an airtight container.
These homemade bisquick mix can be used in various recipes just as the store-bought bisquick mix. Keep in mind that this homemade version won't have the same preservatives as the store-bought one, so it's best to use it within a few weeks.
