HOw do you barbecue a tri tip?
To barbecue a tri-tip:
Ingredients:
- Tri-tip roast, about 2-3 pounds
- Olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- Your favorite barbecue sauce
Instructions:
Preparing the tri-tip:
1.) Trim any excess fat from the tri-tip. It has a generous fat cap that may need to be trimmed down and evened out.
2.) Season the tri-tip with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Massage the seasonings into the meat, ensuring it's evenly coated on both sides.
Grilling the tri-tip:
1.) Preheat your grill to a high temperature, around 450-500°F (230-260°C).
2.) Once your grill is hot, place the tri-tip on the grate. Let it sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it develops a nice crust.
3.) After searing, reduce the grill's temperature to medium, around 350°F (175°C).
4.) Cover the grill and continue cooking the tri-tip for 15-25 minutes, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
5.) To ensure even cooking rotate the tri-tip by 45 degrees every few minutes.
Resting the tri-tip:
1.) Remove the tri-tip from the grill and loosely tent it with foil.
2.) Allow the tri-tip to rest for at least 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and juicy final product.
Slicing and serving the tri-tip:
1.) After the tri-tip has rested, slice it thinly against the grain.
2.) Baste with barbecue sauce and serve immediately with sides of your choice, such as grilled vegetables, corn on the cob, or a simple salad.
Enjoy your delicious grilled tri-tip!
