How high can skunks reach like to raise my chicken coop above that point?

Skunks can typically reach a height of two feet, but some may be able to reach slightly higher. To deter skunks from entering your chicken coop, it is recommended that you raise it at least three feet off the ground. Additionally, you can:

* Install a skirt of hardware cloth around the bottom of the coop extending at least 12 inches out and buried 6 inches deep

* Trim tree limbs and branches near the coop to limit their access

* Install a motion-activated light or sprinkler near the coop.
