If a crock pot was only set to keep meat warm overnight is it safe eat?
It's not safe to eat meat that's been kept warm in a crock pot overnight. Here's why:
* Danger Zone: The "danger zone" for bacterial growth is between 40°F and 140°F. Keeping meat warm in a crock pot, even on the "warm" setting, will likely keep it within this range, allowing bacteria to multiply rapidly.
* Foodborne Illness: Eating food contaminated with bacteria can cause food poisoning, with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps.
What to do:
* Refrigerate promptly: If you're not planning to eat the meat immediately, refrigerate it within two hours of cooking.
* Reheat thoroughly: Before eating, reheat the meat to an internal temperature of 165°F to kill any bacteria that may have grown.
Always err on the side of caution when it comes to food safety.
