Why do chicken eat more when light is present?
This statement is not entirely accurate. Chickens, like most animals, have a natural circadian rhythm that influences their feeding patterns and other behaviors. Their feeding behavior is generally influenced by several factors, including the time of day, availability of food, and other environmental cues.
Chickens are generally more active during the day, and their feed intake tends to increase during the daylight hours. This is related to their natural foraging behavior. In nature, chickens spend a significant portion of their day searching for food, such as seeds, insects, and vegetation. When there is more light available, they can see and find food more easily, which leads to increased feeding behavior.
However, it's important to note that light is not the sole factor determining a chicken's feed intake. Other factors such as proper nutrition, access to clean water, overall health, and environmental stressors can also impact their appetite and feeding patterns.
