Why is jerk chicken called chicken?
The word “jerk” refers to the style of cooking, not to the type of meat. Jerk chicken is simply chicken that is prepared in a spicy, marinated style originating from Jamaica. Other types of meat can be used in the same style, such as jerk pork or jerk fish, but the traditional dish in Jamaica is jerk chicken.
