How do you make a rich chocolate pecan pie?
Here is a recipe to make a rich chocolate pecan pie:
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup ice water
For the Filling:
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
To make the crust:
1. In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the dough blade, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Pulse to combine.
2. Add the butter pieces and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Add the ice water and pulse just until the dough starts to come together. Be careful not to overmix.
4. Turn the dough onto lightly floured surface and gather into a ball. Flatten the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
To make the filling:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a medium bowl, combine the pecans, sugar, flour, and salt. Stir to combine.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, chocolate chips, brown sugar, heavy cream, corn syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
To assemble and bake:
1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the crust to a 12-inch circle. Transfer the crust to a 9-inch pie plate and trim the edges.
2. Pour the filling into the crust.
3. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the filing is set and the crust is golden brown.
4. Let the pie cool completely before serving.
