Who made chocolate cake?

There is no information about who first created the chocolate cake. However, credit for the first chocolate cake recipe is often attributed to American cookbook author Fannie Merritt Farmer, who published the recipe in her 1896 cookbook "The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book".
