Baked Cheesecake With Sour Cream Topping (7 Steps)

Cheesecake is a soft and creamy dessert with several recipe variations. One of the most common main ingredients in cheesecake is cream cheese. However, some recipes incorporate sour cream as well. One such variation is a cheesecake with sour cream topping. Making a cheesecake with sour cream topping requires approximately one hour and 20 minutes from start to finish. A 9-inch cheesecake yields 16 small servings.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers
  • 1-1/2 cups white sugar, divided
  • 3 tbsp. melted butter
  • Mixing bowls
  • 9-inch silver spring-form pan
  • 3 8-oz. packages cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp. lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. vanilla, divided
  • 3 eggs
  • Hand mixer
  • 1-1/2 cups sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Combine the crushed graham crackers, 6 tbsp. of white sugar and the melted butter in a mixing bowl. Press this pie crust mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch silver spring-form pan.

  3. Bake the pie crust for 10 minutes.

  4. Add the cream cheese, 3/4 cup of sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, 1 tsp. of vanilla and eggs to a bowl, and beat on medium speed with a hand mixer. Continue beating this pie filling for two minutes.

  5. Pour the pie filling over the crust, and bake for one hour.

  6. Mix 1/4 cup of sugar, 1-1/2 cups of sour cream and 1 tsp. of vanilla in a small bowl until smooth. Spread evenly over the top of the cheesecake. Bake an additional 10 minutes.

  7. Refrigerate for five hours before serving.
