What is the recipe to make Dutch Ola Bolas?
Dutch Olabollen Recipe
Ingredients:
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
* 1/2 teaspoon sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup milk, warmed to 110-115 degrees F
* 1/4 cup butter, melted
* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup raisins, optional
* Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface.
6. Roll the dough out to a 1/2-inch thickness.
7. Cut the dough into 1-inch rounds using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
8. If desired, place a few raisins in the center of each round of dough.
9. Heat the oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium heat.
10. Fry the Dutch olabollen for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
11. Drain the Dutch olabollen on paper towels.
12. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
Tips:
* To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of dough into the oil. If it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.
* Be careful not to overcrowd the skillet when frying the Dutch olabollen.
* The Dutch olabollen can be made ahead of time and frozen. To reheat, place them on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 10-15 minutes, or until warmed through.
