How to Bring a Dish to a Party (4 Steps)
When going to a celebration you are often times asked to bring a dish with you. Depending on the location and the setting your dish might change. There are a few ways to show your appreciation to the host or hostess of the event. Bringing a dish is always a process; so here are a few ways to eliminate any confusion.
Things You'll Need
- Serving Dish
- Serving Spoon
Instructions
-
Fist make sure to ask the host or hostess what they would like you to bring. Depending on location and they style of the event this might change the type of dish you will be bringing.
-
Decide on the type of serving dish that you will be bringing. When you are going to an upscale event you may have to bring a nicer platter. But if you are going to a picnic, you might want to bring a serving container that you are able to throw out. Also, bring a serving spoon as well. Depending on the size of the event the hostess or host may not have enough serving items. This will make it easier on them.
-
Keep the dish simple. People are more reluctant to eat things that they can't decipher. If you bring something that is not easily identifiable you can make a place card with its contents and tape it to your dish. Also, do not bring something that requires prep work while at the event. This is unfair to your host or hostess. They asked you to bring something in order to help them out. So, keep this in mind and stay out of their kitchen.
-
Lastly, if the dish cannot be thrown away make sure to take it home with you. No one wants to wash your dish and bare the burden of returning it to you. It is unfair to leave the host or hostess with your cleaning and the responsibility of returning your items.
