How to Cook on a Primo Grill
A Primo grill is an oval-shaped ceramic grill. These grills can be used to cook commonly grilled items such as poultry and meat, and they can also be used for making pizza, cookies and bread by using a baking stone accessory in place of the grill rack. Primo grills have a ceramic base which holds all-natural lump charcoal to cook your food without the chemicals that can sometimes be found in charcoal briquettes.
Things You'll Need
- Natural pure lump charcoal
- Fire starter
- Meat or poultry
- Meat thermometer
Instructions
-
Remove the racks of the grill and fill the firebox with pure lump charcoal. The firebox is a ceramic insert located under the racks in the base of the Primo grill.
-
Open the vents of the grill to allow air to circulate around the coals and help them ignite.
-
Light a fire starter such as Primo Quick Lights and place the fire starter into the charcoal. Close the lid and wait a few minutes. The charcoal will ignite during this time and the grill will begin to heat up.
-
Remove the lid and place the racks on the grill. Close the lid again and wait until the temperature gauge has reached your desired cooking temperature.
-
Close the vents of the grill, leaving them slightly open to permit air flow and maintain the proper temperature during cooking.
-
Place seasoned meat or poultry onto the rack. Close the lid and allow the meat to cook for the amount of time indicated in the recipe directions. Watch the temperature gauge and open the vents as necessary to reduce the temperature if it becomes too hot.
-
Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the meat has been cooked thoroughly before removing it from the grill.
-
Close all of the vents completely and keep the lid on the grill when you are done cooking. The charcoal will eventually extinguish due to the lack of oxygen.
