How to Make an Omelet in a Plastic Bag in Boiling Water
Whether camping out or staying at home, it is always helpful to have a simple but tasty way to quickly fix eggs. An omelet can be tailor made to suit a number of different tastes, but it is time consuming and might be difficult for a novice to successfully cook. This is easily remedied by using a plastic bag and boiling water. By cooking an egg inside a bag you create an omelet in a short amount of time without worrying about cooking technique or a messy pan to clean.
Things You'll Need
- Large pot
- Medium bowl
- 3 eggs
- Shredded cheese
- Bacon
- Chopped ham
- Chopped vegetables
- Tomatoes
- Salt
- Pepper
- Boil-safe plastic bag
- Tongs
Preparation
-
Fill a large pot with water, and bring it to a boil.
-
Break three eggs into a medium-size bowl, and beat them for 1 minute.
-
Add shredded cheese, chopped ham and vegetables -- whatever food you want in your omelet.
-
Sprinkle salt and pepper, to taste, and mix well.
Cooking
-
Pour the egg mixture carefully into a boil-safe bag.
-
Partially close the bag, squeeze out excess air and then seal it the rest of the way to prevent the eggs from leaking out of the bag as they cook.
-
Place the sealed plastic bag into the boiling water and leave it for 8 minutes or until it is almost completely cooked.
-
Remove the bag from the water using tongs, and place it aside on a paper towel so it can cool enough to safely handle.
-
Open the bag over a plate and let the omelet roll out..
