How to Fold a Burrito Like Chipotle (9 Steps)

For centuries, the tortilla was used in Mexico as a delivery system for food. Today, it's a staple in many American kitchens. The Chipotle chain of Mexican grills is known for their commitment to sustainability, naturally raised animals and huge burritos. Customers choose from a variety of ingredients that fill large tortillas, which are then wrapped to keep all the delicious goodness inside the burrito. With a couple of flicks of the wrist, you can wrap a burrito just as efficiently at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper towels
  • Large flour tortillas
  • Plate
  • Tortilla fillings
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Dampen two paper towels.

  2. Place a tortilla on one wet towel and cover it with the other towel.

  3. Microwave the tortilla for approximately 30 to 40 seconds or until it is soft and pliable, being careful not to overheat or it will harden.

  4. Lay the warm tortilla flat on a plate.

  5. Spoon your choice of fillings onto the tortilla, ensuring that you leave about a 2 -inch margin around the tortilla.

  6. Fold the left half of the tortilla over to the right so that it completely covers the food.

  7. Fold the bottom of the tortilla up toward the middle about 2 inches.

  8. Fold the top of the tortilla about 2 inches down toward the middle.

  9. Rotate the tortilla so that the length of the folded side is toward you and roll the burrito away from you until it's completely folded.
