How do you make airheads?
Ingredients:
* 1 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup light corn syrup
* 1/4 cup water
* 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, cream of tartar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened and reached 300 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer.
3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and food coloring, if desired.
4. Pour the mixture onto a greased 9x13 inch baking sheet and let cool for 5 minutes.
5. Using a buttered knife or spatula, begin to stretch and pull the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.
6. Continue to stretch and pull the mixture for 5-10 minutes, or until it has reached the desired consistency.
7. Cut the mixture into squares or rectangles and enjoy!
Tips:
* For best results, use a candy thermometer to ensure that the mixture reaches the correct temperature.
* If the mixture becomes too sticky, grease your hands with butter or cooking spray.
* You can add any flavoring you like to the mixture, such as chocolate, mint, or fruit.
* Airheads can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
