2 methods you can use to separate a mixture of flour and sugar?
Here are two methods to separate a mixture of flour and sugar:
1. Sieving:
* How it works: Flour particles are generally smaller than sugar crystals. A sieve with the right mesh size will allow the flour to pass through, leaving the sugar behind.
* Steps:
* Choose a sieve with a mesh size that allows flour to pass through but not sugar.
* Pour the flour and sugar mixture into the sieve.
* Gently shake or tap the sieve, allowing the flour to fall through.
* The sugar will remain in the sieve.
2. Using a Density Difference:
* How it works: Flour and sugar have different densities. Flour is less dense than sugar, meaning it will float on top of the sugar.
* Steps:
* Place the flour and sugar mixture into a container.
* Carefully pour water into the container until the flour floats to the surface.
* The sugar will sink to the bottom of the container.
* Scoop out the floating flour and allow it to dry.
* The sugar can be removed from the bottom of the container and allowed to dry.
Important Note: Both methods will work best with dry flour and sugar. If the mixture is damp, it may be more difficult to separate.
