How do you make freeze pops?
To make freeze pops, you will need:
- Ingredients: fruit juice, water, sugar (optional), and any desired flavorings such as pieces of fruit, herbs, or spices.
- Molds: You can use ice pop molds, plastic cups, or even popsicle sticks inserted into paper cups.
- Toothpicks or popsicle sticks: To hold the freeze pop in place as it freezes.
Instructions:
1. Preparation: Wash and prepare the fruit, then juice it. You can also use store-bought fruit juice if you prefer.
2. Mixing: In a large container, combine the fruit juice, water, and optional sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar. Add any desired flavorings at this stage.
3. Pouring: Pour the mixture into the molds, filling them almost to the top but leaving a little space for expansion.
4. Freezing: Insert a toothpick or popsicle stick into each mold, leaving a small part exposed to hold it in place. Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
5. Unmolding: Once frozen, remove the molds from the freezer. To remove the freeze pops from the molds, run warm water over the outside of the mold for a few seconds, then gently pull the freeze pop out by its stick.
6. Enjoy: Your homemade freeze pops are ready to be enjoyed!
Here are additional tips for making freeze pops:
- For extra flavor, add pieces of fruit, herbs, or spices to your freeze pop mixture.
- You can also make layered freeze pops by pouring different flavors into the molds in separate layers.
- If you don't have molds, you can use plastic cups or even paper cups with popsicle sticks inserted into the center.
- Freeze pops can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months.
