Does anyone have an old cinnamon muffin recipe from 1950?
Here is a cinnamon muffin recipe from the 1950s:
Ingredients:
* 1 cup minus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
* 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 egg
* 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and sugars.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, egg, and buttermilk.
4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Let the muffins cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips:
* For extra-moist muffins, add an additional 1/4 cup of buttermilk to the batter.
* If you don't have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for a few minutes before using.
* Feel free to add in your favorite mix-ins, such as chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
* For a streusel topping, combine 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle the streusel on top of the muffins before baking.
