Why use parchment paper on bottom of cake pan?

No sticking

There’s nothing worse than putting in all that effort to make a cake, only to find that it sticks to the bottom of the pan and falls apart when you try to take it out. Parchment paper is a tried-and-true method for preventing this issue. It acts as a barrier between the cake batter and the pan, allowing for easy release once the cake is done baking.

Creates an Even Bake

Parchment paper can help to create an even bake by promoting better heat distribution. When not using parchment paper, some areas of the cake batter may come in direct contact with the pan, causing those areas to bake faster and potentially burn while other parts of the cake remain underdone. Parchment paper helps to diffuse the heat and prevents this issue.

Easier Cleanup

If you're not using parchment paper, there’s a chance bits of your cake will get stuck to the bottom of the pan and you may have to scrub and soak the pan to clean it. With parchment paper, most, if not all, of the cake should lift off easily, leaving you with a pan that can be cleaned with just a quick rinse.

Customizable Cake Sizes

If you don't have a pan in the perfect size you want, this is where parchment paper comes in. There are many baking methods that utilize parchment paper to either extend the sides or line individual sections within a pan. This versatility allows you to create almost any size or shape cake you desire.
