What is the isotonic solution of corn syrup to egg?
The isotonic solution of egg could not be corn syrup. Egg cells contain water, proteins, lipids and salts, thus it is a hypertonic solution relative to pure water. Corn syrup is a concentrated solution of sugars dissolved in water. In order to equalise the osmotic pressure, so that there is no net movement of water into or out of the egg cell, the concentration of corn syrup in the isotonic solution must be high.
