Where does mantou bread come from?
Mantou bread, also known as steamed buns, originated in China.
While the exact origins are debated, they are believed to have been created during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). Mantou is thought to have evolved from a similar steamed bread called "bing".
Over the centuries, mantou has become a staple food in many parts of China and has also spread to other parts of East Asia, including Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
