How to Make Banana Bread With Baby Food Bananas
Baby food bananas are simply pureed bananas so they can be used in place of fresh fruit in any banana bread recipe with good results. Three medium bananas will produce about one cup of mashed banana, the same as 8 ounces of baby food bananas. Consider adding a new twist to favorite banana recipes by using baby food flavors such as bananas mixed with strawberries or peaches.
Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup shortening, butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 (4 oz.) jars of baby food bananas 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup whole-wheat flour 3 tsp. baking powder Loaf pan Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
-
Cream together the shortening and sugar until smooth in a large mixing bowl.
-
Beat the eggs into the creamed sugar mixture. Add baby food bananas and lemon juice to the mixing bowl and stir until combined.
-
Sift both flours and baking powder together in a separate bowl in order to avoid pockets of baking powder in the finished banana bread. Stir the flour mixture into the large mixing bowl and continue to stir until the batter has a uniform color and consistency throughout.
-
Spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and pour the banana bread batter into the loaf pan. Bake banana bread at 375 degrees for approximately 75 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.
-
Allow to cool on the counter before removing the baby food banana bread from the pan and serving.
